Since Eurotrip2010. I'm a couple years older. Couple years wiser. Quit my day job. Not because I hated it. But because I wanted to pursue my graduate degree full time. Moved away from my hometown. Went back to college (for grad school). Work two jobs. Volunteer when I can. Trying to get involved in my church. Meeting some of the most WONDERFUL people. Figuring out some of my life. Some of my career. Some things about men. Some things about God. Learning. (Trying to be) Caring. (Attempting towards) Sharing.
(All the time) Growing.

That'll do.Destinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-64689365803098834732010-07-27T20:21:00.013-04:002010-07-27T20:47:10.546-04:00Out of Date!I've been informed that my blog needed a major update...so here it goes! It's actually going pretty well, which I'm excited about. I'm working on some things for the holidays..so busy, busy, busy. I went to Virginia Beach to visit my friends in the beginning of October. That was super fun! And now christmas is a month and a half away...I still need to get that all figured out.

But...super exciting news! - I'm going to Europe in March! My roommate and I are taking a trip to England and then Italy....I'm so extremely excited about it.

Well...I guess I'll come back later and update.

.destinyDestinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-32632782589527294112009-09-06T20:12:00.003-04:002009-09-06T20:20:24.352-04:00NostalgiaNostalgia (n): a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time

I've always found nostalgia to be one of the most interesting concepts. Lately I've been thinking a lot about college and I suppose you could say "the time before adulthood set in." I tend to reminisce too much. I have started to question things, wondering if I should've done this or should've done that. I've debated going back for Graduate School over the past year - I've even been accepted, but haven't been able to get my situation together to go. The whole real world schedule of things is...hmmm...interesting. I'm trying to situate it out and get everything together and figure out my future..and slowly, but surely...things are starting to piece together..somewhat. I don't know what this rambling is all about anymore...but hey...to each their own, I suppose.

.dDestinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-76335422916994598062009-08-30T09:09:00.001-04:002009-08-30T09:11:56.940-04:00Bringing This Up To DateSo...this month has been pretty busy! I moved out of my parents house and into an apartment with one of my friends - that is great! I love having my own space and more freedom, now I just have more bills! But, yeah....so it's been pretty crazy on my end. I've felt like I've been going, going, going...so I enjoy my relaxation a little more right now. Also, in thenext month we have a couple big things going on at work, so busy, busy there as well. It's crazy!

But..now I gotta get ready for church...holla!

.destinyDestinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-52817695481758301542009-07-28T19:59:00.005-04:002009-07-28T20:16:30.336-04:00That's all I have to say about that!I feel like I have not been utilizing my blog to it's fullest capacity!

So, what's been going on, you may ask?! Not a whole lot. I have been looking for an apartment for a long time and man, am I struggling. I just can't understand how people can charge rent so high in this area, it is truly crazy! I like lists...they're fun!

Anyways, after watching American Idol I got the inspiration to do a Top 10 List for the Year I was born: 1984! Basically, just interesting fun-facts from an amazing year! :-)

1. January 24 - The Macintosh is introduced! Thank you Jef Raskin!
2. February 3 - The first live birth from an embryo transfer is announced.
3. April 6 - Terms of Endearment wins Best Picture at the 56th Academy Awards.
4. May 8 - The longest game in Major League Baseball begins between the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago White Sox. (The game is played over 2 days - lasting 22 innings - a total time of 8 hrs. and 6 min.)
5. July 18 - Beverly Lynn Burns becomes the first woman Boeing 747 captain in the world.
6. July 23 - Vanessa Lynn Williams becomes the first Miss America to resign when she surrenders her crown, after nude photos of her appear in "Penthouse" magazine.
7. August 11 - Then-President Ronald Reagan, during a voice check for a radio broadcast remarks, "My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes".
8. November 6 - U.S. presidential election, 1984: Ronald Reagan defeats Walter F. Mondale with 59% of the popular vote, the highest since Richard Nixon's 61% victory in 1972. Reagan carries 49 states in the electoral college; Mondale wins only his home state of Minnesota by a mere 3,761 vote margin and the District of Columbia.
9. December 22 - Four African-American youths (Barry Allen, Troy Canty, James Ramseur, and Darrell Cabey) board an express train in The Bronx borough of New York City. They attempt to rob Bernhard Goetz, who shoots them. The event starts a national debate about urban crime, which is a plague in 1980s America.
10. Undated - Crack, a smokeable form of cocaine, is first introduced into the Los Angeles area and soon spreads across the United States in what becomes known as the Crack Epidemic.

(*all facts were found using wikipedia.org - 1984*)

Now it's your turn - do the same thing on your blog or in the comments section!
Destinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-89068913499655645192009-03-31T21:31:00.002-04:002009-03-31T21:33:46.422-04:00I'm Still Here!I just wanted to let you all know I am still here. It's my quotables quiz! All you have to do is name the movie that each quote is from (most are from my personal dvd collection, so those who know me well, will have the advantage). Give yourself 1 point for each right answer (I'll post those later) and whoever wins, well....I'll figure out some fun interweb gift to give. Happy quizzing!

Name that Movie!

1.

'I'm going to go home and have some sex!' Thanks!

Taken(2008)

Release Date: January 30, 2009

Director: Pierre Morel

Genre: Action, Crime, Drama, Thriller

Runtime: 91 Minutes

Actors: Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, and more!

Think "The Bourne Identity" meets "Trade". Let me explain! Taken is an action-packed movie about Bryan (Liam Neeson) who, after retiring from the Secret Service, moves to California to be closer to his daughter Kim (Maggie Smith), who lives with her mother, Lenore (Famke Janssen) and wealthy stepfather. Now that you are settled into the foundation of the story!

You soon find out that Kim has planned a trip to Europe with her friend Amanda, but in order for her to go, Bryan has to sign papers to allow his minor daughter to travel out of the country. Mistake number 1! Bryan ex-military background comes in full force as he believes this is not a good idea and tries to convince them otherwise "they do not know the world, the way he does." Bryan is not successful though, and decides to let his daughter have her freedom!

The next thing you know, Kim & Amanda (who's ridiculously idiotic) are in France, heading to their hotel. They begin chatting with perfect strangers (Mistake number 2) and Amanda gives way too much information. Without giving the full story away, the men come to take the girls, which is the predominant scene of "they will take you." Now they have released the boiling fury of a overprotective and very well-trained father!

Action and chaos ensue, as the movie opens the door to a sex trafficking world that is all too realistic for one person to handle.

My feelings on this movie....amazing, awesome, spectacular...great! I mean Liam Neeson is wonderful and I was astonished at how well he was able to portray a charactor of such fury and wrath. I am used to the normal characters of scholarly attributes, wisdom, and leaders...not necessarily let's kick some butt (Jason Bourne Style). I also appreciated the fact that this movie took the chance of exposing in cinematic glory the reality of sex trafficking. I believe this is a huge problem in our world, and too many are afraid to bring awareness to it, because it's too risky to speak of.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars!

Great Performance, Excellent Action Sequences, and not too long that you get tired of it.

Have you seen it? Let me know your thoughts!

.destiny

Destinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-91065549999527648452009-02-13T22:14:00.002-05:002009-02-13T22:16:20.686-05:00Movie Mayhem!!With the wonderful world of cinematic adventures becoming more and more a part of my life...because I just love my movies...I've decided to start movie reviews in my blog.

I could choose from my over 450 collection...but I'd rather leave that fate in your hands...any suggestions??

.destinyDestinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-62746899628320975682008-08-29T21:43:00.002-04:002008-08-29T21:58:29.810-04:00"Look what I've become..."I've noticed I have a tendency to use random quotes from movies as my headlines for my blog entries. I don't know how I feel about this, but I still continue to do it. Oh well I suppose.

I'm finding that "theology" is becoming common in a lot of people's lives. We don't know how we feel about certain things, but we still continue to do them. For instance, the mundane, yet consistent, routine of everyday life. I find myself struggling with that on an almost daily basis.

I long for consistency and routine, some sense of normalcy, and understand in my daily life. However, I combat this all at the same time. I become so afraid to slip into routine and lose sight of reality and what I'm doing with my life. I find myself asking that question, "what am I doing with my life?" and more often than not, I cannot find an answer.

I just don't know about anything anymore. Wait, that's too broad, there are some things I know about...a good amount of information about, but they seem meaningless. The things that matter that effect my everyday life, the things of now and of tomorrow, the things of what is going on and where am I heading, the things of what difference does this make and how does that involve me...these are the things I tend to draw a blank on.

So...this post is basically for my over-psycho-analyzing self to just vomit. I don't know if there is a point, and maybe that is the point...that I do not know.

Is there freedom in that? I don't know!

.destiny.Destinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-22610272133491680322008-08-16T22:14:00.004-04:002008-08-16T23:04:58.811-04:00Movie MagicI love movies! Anyone who knows me, knows this. They all comment on my extreme addiction to DVDs and how I have a "problem." Well the first step to recovery, is admitting you have a problem....well, I DO NOT have a problem. HAHA!

Anyways, I have found in my extensive research on purchasing DVDs that there are a few ways of making my life easier and my bank account not-so-depleted.

1. Search for previously viewed DVDs.

This option is amazing and does great things for your bank account as well as your ability to own all your favorite movies. The main movie rental facilities are wonderful. The best part is they will generally run deals for you, such as "Buy 2, Get 2" or "3 for $20." All on select titles of course, but still are wonderful, nonetheless. To top it all off, certain stores have lifetime warranties on their previously viewed dvds!

2. I am a big fan of Amazon Marketplace and Ebay.

Sites like these are wonderful, they provide you with great resources to locate dvd for cheap, they both offer used and new dvds. Sometimes they can be a risk, and other times they can be great...but I at least say try them out. I've found some great deals on there.

3. Swaptree.com

The last of my learned ways is swaptree. One of my best friends opened this wonderful world to me. Swaptree is an online trading site where you list movies, music, books and video games that you own, want, and would like to trade. Then the amazingness of swaptree works their magic of creating trades for you to own your desired dvds and rid yourself of the clutter of your unused/older dvds. All for no fee, except shipping of course. This is a wonderful place, and I definitely recommend it.

Now that I have addressed the wonderfulness of those revelations, I would like to discuss the importance of your movie collection. I believe that the movies you watch, as well as, the books you read, say a lot about you. So, I am going to go to discuss my collection through a series of random questions...feel free to reuse these questions according to your own collection.
**disclaimer: the answer to the multiple answered questions are in no particular order, although they may be in alphabetical :)**

1. What are the top five movies in your collection that you can watch over and over?
This may be difficult, let me go through and see...I may be able to figure this out. These movies tend to be my, let me put them in and zone out in anything else, or possibly the movie itself, but either way these movies never get old.
Boondock Saints - Ever After - Harry Potter (any of them) - Pride & Prejudice - CSI (I'm throwing this one in there because I love the series and find that I can easily pick any season and pop a disc in and just watch them again and again.)

2. What movie would you feel most comfortable in?
Hmmm...I'm going to have to go with a top five on this one as well.
Pride & Prejudice - Jane Austen Book Club - Enchanted - Someone Like You - That Thing You Do

3. Do you ever wish your life was a musical and you can randomly break out into song and dance?
YES - I had to put that question in there...lol

4. What are the top three blockbuster hits in your collection?
Aside from the Harry Potter Series...I'd have to say...The Die Hard Series...The Pirates of the Carribean Series...and the Lord of the Rings Series...I'm beginning to think I have a love of movie series...oh wait..I kind of do!

5. Do you own at least 5 Disney movies? If so, what are they?
Mulan - Aladdin - The Aristocats - Cars - of course the Pirates Series

6. Okay, I'm feeling like ending this, so the last one is just list the movies you absolutely love that are in your collection...
27 Dresses - Aladdin - Boondock Saints - Cars - Die Hard Series - Harry Potter Series - Gladiator - LOTR Series - Mrs. Doubtfire - Pirates Series - Pride & Prejudice - I'm sure there is more, but my mind isn't functioning properly at the moment.

So, on that long winded note...I'm out of here...

.destinyDestinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-58509120022625471462008-07-09T18:44:00.004-04:002008-12-10T14:34:21.372-05:00The heart...

Destinyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07232567411225861730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2006120457693005132.post-46285026336301238832008-03-27T22:18:00.002-04:002008-03-27T22:21:10.347-04:00From the heartWhy is that a difficult thing for me?

Normally it isn't...normally, I'm a heart person. I really am.

But lately I've noticed people telling me to do things, from the heart...not out of obligation, or formality. but purely. with feeling. emotion. meaning.

I'm wrestling with this.

One of many things to be honest.

Work is keeping me busy...this is a good thing.

I got a new car!
