Friday the 13th!

Okay, so my post has nothing to do with it being Friday the 13th..but I figured that would work as the title.

What's been going on in my life...hmmm...work is work. It's actually going pretty well, which I'm excited about. I'm working on some things for the holidays..so busy, busy, busy. I went to Virginia Beach to visit my friends in the beginning of October. That was super fun! And now christmas is a month and a half away...I still need to get that all figured out.

But...super exciting news! - I'm going to Europe in March! My roommate and I are taking a trip to England and then Italy....I'm so extremely excited about it.

Well...I guess I'll come back later and update.

Nostalgia

Nostalgia (n): a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time

I've always found nostalgia to be one of the most interesting concepts. Lately I've been thinking a lot about college and I suppose you could say "the time before adulthood set in." I tend to reminisce too much. I have started to question things, wondering if I should've done this or should've done that. I've debated going back for Graduate School over the past year - I've even been accepted, but haven't been able to get my situation together to go. The whole real world schedule of things is...hmmm...interesting. I'm trying to situate it out and get everything together and figure out my future..and slowly, but surely...things are starting to piece together..somewhat. I don't know what this rambling is all about anymore...but hey...to each their own, I suppose.

Bringing This Up To Date

So...this month has been pretty busy! I moved out of my parents house and into an apartment with one of my friends - that is great! I love having my own space and more freedom, now I just have more bills! But, yeah....so it's been pretty crazy on my end. I've felt like I've been going, going, going...so I enjoy my relaxation a little more right now. Also, in thenext month we have a couple big things going on at work, so busy, busy there as well. It's crazy!

But..now I gotta get ready for church...holla!

That's all I have to say about that!

I feel like I have not been utilizing my blog to it's fullest capacity!

So, what's been going on, you may ask?! Not a whole lot. I have been looking for an apartment for a long time and man, am I struggling. I just can't understand how people can charge rent so high in this area, it is truly crazy! So..yeah that's where that's at.

I went to Charleston, SC for training for week last week - a whole week away :-) - super fun! I loved it and I met some amazing people, as well as, saw some good sites...including this:

and this...

Other than that - I've just been trying to get myself motivated (aside from the weight gain) to get off of my lazy behind and start excercising...I suppose we'll see how that works out for me!

"Sunshine, sunshine"

Happy Summer Everyone!

'Tis beautiful outside! Well, at times. Right now it's actually raining and a little ugh~! Anyways, I'm excited though about the summer months, looking forward to some fun in the sun...maybe.

I recently went to the beach and got to visit with some of my, oh so wonderful, friends...good times!

Other than my vacation and visiting my friends, it's just been work, work, work for me!
I recently have been reading a good bit of bits, 2 of which were Pocket Guide to Adulthood and Pocket Guide to the Bible. Both are recommended reads...highly so! I've also gotten excited about thinking about all the adult decisions I've been making, along the lines of retirement and savings. I feel so mature!
Alright people, I'm bored and you probably are, as well! So...later!

Blast From the Past - Via 2004

"I cry out...for one more this piercing pain shoots straight to the core my soul is lieing at Your feet my heart is empty and still searching for who I seek I yearn for the pain, there's comfort within I long for the brokenness that only You can mend This body, this weakness, this cannot be endured my heart cries out for just one more I cannot move, my limbs are heavy, my heart is weak my brokenness that you have given me, the comfort I seek I feel no more, my body removed, your grace has covered my heart renewed. one more touch I cried again till I realized Your touch never ceased within. Your comfort, Your love, Your wonderful grace, this pain, this brokenness, this is your place. You've claimed it as your own. I am no longer alone."

I decided to do a Top 10 List! I like lists...they're fun!

Reagan carries 49 states in the electoral college; Mondale wins only his home state of Minnesota by a mere 3,761 vote margin and the District of Columbia.
9. December 22 - Four African-American youths (Barry Allen, Troy Canty, James Ramseur, and Darrell Cabey) board an express train in The Bronx borough of New York City. They attempt to rob Bernhard Goetz, who shoots them. The event starts a national debate about urban crime, which is a plague in 1980s America.
10. Undated - Crack, a smokeable form of cocaine, is first introduced into the Los Angeles area and soon spreads across the United States in what becomes known as the Crack Epidemic.

Quotables - Quiz #1

Greetings everyone! :-)

I originally planned on doing a movie review on a quotable movie, but I like to be different and random, so instead I am going to put a self-made quiz on here. It's my quotables quiz! All you have to do is name the movie that each quote is from (most are from my personal dvd collection, so those who know me well, will have the advantage). Give yourself 1 point for each right answer (I'll post those later) and whoever wins, well....I'll figure out some fun interweb gift to give. Happy quizzing!

Name that Movie!

1.
'I'm going to go home and have some sex!' 'Harry, you're going to go home and puke!' 'Well, that'll be fun too!'

2.

'You know you're not as scary as you think you are!'

3.

'What is it in us that seeks the truth? Is it our minds or is it our hearts?'

4.

'We know that all were doing is breeding a whole new generation of buyers and sellers, BUYERS AND SELLERS! Pimps and whores, PIMPS AND WHORES! and indoctrinating them into a life long hell of debt and indecision!'

5.

'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained we must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be by the better angels of our nature.'

6.

'Who would think something like this would happen from harmless flares and roman candles?'

7.

'You know what they say: People in glass houses sink sh-sh-ships.'

8.

'Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?'

9.

'Don't think it's your's just because you marked it with your urine!'

10.

'Two years, two hundred and sixty-four days and this morning.'

I hope you did well! Some of them are quite obscure..but I still love it! Enjoy!

I would like some response on your most quoteworthy of movies, generally ones you absolutely love is great. One of my personal favs. would be "The Boondock Saints;" however, I don't know if I'm quite ready for that review.

So...converse away...

Movie Review #1

Although I received some very good suggestions from the "crowd" of people that read my blog...I decided to choose one of my favorites...but still kind of random! So, with no further adieu, I give you..my first movie review...

This review may contain spoilers - I apologize...and am willing to take constructive criticism on how I can improve for future reviews! Thanks!

Release Date: January 30, 2009
Director: Pierre Morel
Genre: Action, Crime, Drama, Thriller
Runtime: 91 Minutes
Actors: Liam Neeson, Famke Janssen, Maggie Grace, and more!

Think "The Bourne Identity" meets "Trade". Let me explain! Taken is an action-packed movie about Bryan (Liam Neeson) who, after retiring from the Secret Service, moves to California to be closer to his daughter Kim (Maggie Smith), who lives with her mother, Lenore (Famke Janssen) and wealthy stepfather. Now that you are settled into the foundation of the story!

You soon find out that Kim has planned a trip to Europe with her friend Amanda, but in order for her to go, Bryan has to sign papers to allow his minor daughter to travel out of the country. Mistake number 1! Bryan ex-military background comes in full force as he believes this is not a good idea and tries to convince them otherwise "they do not know the world, the way he does." Bryan is not successful though, and decides to let his daughter have her freedom!

The next thing you know, Kim & Amanda (who's ridiculously idiotic) are in France, heading to their hotel. They begin chatting with perfect strangers (Mistake number 2) and Amanda gives way too much information. Without giving the full story away, the men come to take the girls, which is the predominant scene of "they will take you." Now they have released the boiling fury of a overprotective and very well-trained father!

Action and chaos ensue, as the movie opens the door to a sex trafficking world that is all too realistic for one person to handle.

My feelings on this movie....amazing, awesome, spectacular...great! I mean Liam Neeson is wonderful and I was astonished at how well he was able to portray a charactor of such fury and wrath. I am used to the normal characters of scholarly attributes, wisdom, and leaders...not necessarily let's kick some butt (Jason Bourne Style). I also appreciated the fact that this movie took the chance of exposing in cinematic glory the reality of sex trafficking. I believe this is a huge problem in our world, and too many are afraid to bring awareness to it, because it's too risky to speak of.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars!

Great Performance, Excellent Action Sequences, and not too long that you get tired of it.

Have you seen it? Let me know your thoughts!
